Sonata Software is strengthening its position in Microsoft’s enterprise AI ecosystem after receiving the 2026–2027 Microsoft AI Business Solutions Inner Circle Award, a recognition that places the company among the top tier of Microsoft’s global partners focused on AI-powered business solutions.
The announcement comes as enterprise software is undergoing a shift from generative AI tools designed primarily to assist employees toward systems that can interact with business applications, access organizational data and execute actions within established workflows.
Sonata’s relationship with Microsoft spans more than three decades. The company has built capabilities across Dynamics 365, Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform and Copilot, while developing its own AI and modernization capabilities around enterprise technology environments.
The company is also expanding its work around agentic AI. Sonata recently joined Microsoft’s Copilot Agents & Platform Engineering Depth Partners program and became a Microsoft Frontier Partner, increasing its engagement with Microsoft’s Engineering and Product teams around advancing and scaling agentic AI.
Building the technology layer for enterprise AI
The move toward agentic systems changes the technical requirements for companies adopting AI. A generative AI application can produce an answer based on a prompt, but an AI agent operating inside a business may need to retrieve information from several systems, determine the appropriate next step and execute an action.
That requires more than a capable model. Enterprise AI systems need access to relevant data, connections to business applications and clearly defined permissions. They also need to operate within existing security and governance frameworks.
Sonata’s Harmoni.AI tooling is designed around this broader technology environment, bringing together capabilities in AI-led modernization, AI-ready data, resilient AI operations and AI-led service delivery. The company says the approach is intended to help enterprises move from AI experimentation to business impact at scale.
The company’s work across Microsoft’s technology stack is part of that strategy. Dynamics 365, Azure, Fabric, Power Platform and Copilot cover different layers of enterprise applications, cloud infrastructure, data and AI-powered productivity.
For enterprises, the combination matters because AI systems increasingly need to operate across existing technology environments rather than as isolated applications. Data fragmentation, legacy infrastructure and disconnected applications can all limit what an AI system is able to accomplish.
Sonata says it has more than 6,400 AI engineers and uses its Platformation™ framework as part of its modernization strategy across global markets.
The Inner Circle recognition comes as Microsoft and its partners increasingly focus on connecting AI capabilities with the enterprise systems required to turn them into operational tools.
