Lexia Hosts “Science of Reading Week 2024” with Special Guest LeVar Burton

This year, Lexia is hosting a four-day event called “Science of Reading Week 2024” aimed at school and district leaders, preK-12 teachers, librarians, and education technology leaders interested in understanding the science of reading. The event will take place from Monday, March 25 to Thursday, March 28, with webinars scheduled from 12 PM to 1 PM ET each day. Registration for the event can be found at the following link: https://home.edweb.net/lexia_sor.

The goal of Science of Reading Week 2024 is to help educators bridge the gap between science-based reading knowledge and instructional practices. The event features expert speakers, including special guest LeVar Burton, known for his work on “Reading Rainbow” and his advocacy for evidence-based literacy instruction.

Each day of the event will focus on different aspects of the science of reading. Monday will feature a live Q&A session with LeVar Burton discussing the importance of literacy as a civil right. Tuesday’s session will focus on the role of school administrators in promoting science of reading-based instruction. Wednesday will shift the focus to district administrators and how they can create an ecosystem supportive of the science of reading. Finally, Thursday’s session will target teachers and how they can enhance their expertise in structured literacy instruction.

The webinars are free to attend, but registration is required. For more information and to register for the event, visit https://home.edweb.net/lexia_sor.
