TUI Cruises Welcomes New Mein Schiff 7 Ship

TUI Cruises officially received the new Mein Schiff 7 today at the Meyer Turku Shipyard in Finland. The 2,894-guest vessel is the first ship from the shipyard to have methanol capability, a milestone highlighted by Meyer Turku.

Representatives from both the shipyard and TUI Cruises attended the signing ceremony. CEO Tim Meyer and Head of Projects Tom Degerman were present from Meyer Turku, while CEO Wybcke Meier and CFO Frank Kuhlmann represented TUI Cruises.

Mein Schiff 7 is the seventh ship of the Mein Schiff series built by Meyer Turku, a proud achievement for the shipyard. CEO Tim Meyer reflected on the ship’s journey from the steel cutting ceremony in June 2022 to its delivery today.

The new ship runs on low-emission marine diesel with a maximum sulfur content of 0.1%. It also has a shore power connection and catalytic converters for environmental sustainability. Additionally, the Mein Schiff 7 can operate on methanol, promising almost CO2-neutral propulsion with green methanol in the future.

Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises, expressed gratitude for the collaboration with Meyer Turku over the years, leading to the successful development of the wellbeing fleet. The Mein Schiff 7 will set sail for Kiel, welcoming its first guests on board on June 12.
