Apple Releases Safari Technology Preview 192 With Updated Features and Bug Fixes

Share

Apple has recently released a new Safari Technology Preview 192 update for macOS Sonoma and macOS Ventura. This update follows closely on the heels of the previous Safari Technology Preview 198, which was released last month and included similar bug fixes and performance enhancements.

The Safari Technology Preview updates allow developers and interested users to test out new features that may be incorporated into future versions of Apple’s popular browser, Safari. The latest version, Safari Technology Preview 192, includes fixes and updates related to Authentication, CSS, Editing, JavaScript, Media, Rendering, Web API, and Web Extensions.

These updates are designed to gather feedback from developers and users about the changes in the browser. While Safari Technology Preview can be used alongside the regular Safari browser, it is primarily aimed at developers and may contain some bugs. However, anyone can install and use this preview version.

To install the Safari Technology Preview 192 update, users can simply download it through the Software Update in System Preferences or System Settings for those who already have the browser installed.

The release notes from Apple highlight new features and bug fixes across various areas of the browser. For example, issues related to setting the cancel flag and CSS support for View Transitions have been addressed. Editing fixes include text duplication and JavaScript updates improve Object.groupBy/Map.groupBy and Array.fromAsync. Media enhancements add MSE support in workers and fix scrolling/video overlay issues. Rendering improvements address scrollable area size and flickering, while Web API adds URL.parse() support and fixes URL text fragment stripping.
