‘Dancing with the Stars’: Emotional ‘Most Memorable Year’ Week Leads to Top Ten of Season; Look who went home

LOS ANGELES — It was time for the annual “Most Memorable Year” week on “Dancing with the Stars,” a topic that is generally the most emotive.

The idea is for each of the celebrities to reflect on an important moment in their lives.

The 10 remaining couples took to the dance floor and reminisced about the good – and sometimes not so good – times in their past that were unforgettable.

Perhaps the most memorable and emotional part of the evening was a tribute to the late Len Goodman, who was the show’s head judge from its inception until last year.

First we saw the professional dancers talking about working with Goodman or dancing for Goodman. Then there was a real homage in his favorite form: dance.

Professionals from the past joined the current cast and danced to the classic “Moon River.” Dancers included favorites such as Kym Johnson Herjavec, Anna Trebunskaya, Karina Smirnoff, Edyta Sliwinska, Tony Dovolani, Louis van Amstel, Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Mark Ballas.

As far as the competition goes, almost everyone did their best this week. And we saw our first 10s of the season!

Both Charity Lawson and Xochitl Gomez reached the top number. Charity by Carrie Ann Inaba and Xochitl by Derek Hough. With 28 out of 30 points, the two stars were tied at the top of the jury rankings.

The three couples left at the end to learn their fate from hosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough: Harry Jowsey, Alyson Hannigan and Mira Sorvino. The jury’s scores and viewers’ votes were combined and in the end Sorvino and her partner Gleb Savchenko were eliminated as a couple.

Next week is Halloween, and that means a monster festival in the ballroom.
